What you can expect during your studies

Each semester you will learn about economics, media sciences, society and culture. Your lecturers are experts who are currently working in business communication and give you real insights instead of mere theoretical knowledge. You will travel together on field trips in order to experience culture and communication in real life and check whether your knowledge is applicable in reality.

Global Communication in Business and Culture offers you the greatest possible freedom through its innovative approach.

The programme’s contents are conveyed as interactive e-learning in a number of phases. This means that you are much more flexible in terms of time and location than a traditional student. This way you can gain unique experience that others don’t have until after graduation. The semester abroad also serves as an integral part of your studies, and we will help you organise it.

You will be most suitably equipped to work as an intercultural expert and drive the international orientation of enterprises and organisations in business, media, culture, and politics. The course will also suit anyone intending to manage international processes as intercultural coaches or international managers in marketing, recruiting or product management.

From the first to the third semester, the focus is on the acquisition of knowledge and experience in the areas of business, communication, culture and intercultural affairs. You will spend the fourth semester abroad. Afterwards, you will deepen your knowledge in the fifth and sixth semesters and complete your studies with your bachelor thesis.

Mittweida UAS is a public university in Saxony. This means that there are no tuition fees. Instead, you solely pay the semester fee of 97 euros, 100 percent of which goes to the Studentenwerk (Student Union) and the Studentenrat (Student Council) – and is therefore used exclusively for your own benefit.
Additional note: Mittweida is one of the most affordable university cities in Germany in terms of rental costs. In order to finance your studies, there are also various funding opportunities. One of them is the Deutschlandstipendium of the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida.

The course starts in September (winter semester). It’ s best to apply early in order to secure your place and enable us to help you enroll. After you have entered your data in the application portal, we will send you an e-mail with further information, because we need some paper documents from you. You can also apply if you will receive your school leaving certificate in paper form later. Please note that different conditions apply to international applicants – more information can be found on our website. If the registration form is not yet open or if you are interested in starting your studies at a later date, please subscribe to our newsletter. We will be happy to provide you with additional tips and remind you when the registration is opened.

Dr. Tatiana Tarasova

“I consider the new study program to be trend-setting because it reflects the idea of global communication in society and especially takes the digital turn into account. In Mittweida I would like to discuss the changes in the media with the students and what they can expect as global communicators of tomorrow.”

Prof. Dr. Kai Gniffke
Intendant, Südwestrundfunk (SWR)

“I’ve been impressed by the curriculum of the program from the very first moment. You can be assured that charitable efforts require in-depth knowledge of economic and communicative aspects. Claudia Graus
Former Member of the Board, UNICEF Germany
